What is the cheapest online supermarket?

Do you know where to shop for groceries online to save some money? DECO PROteste released data that places some supermarkets on the podium of the cheapest.

According to the data from DECO, shared on its website, which were calculated from the beginning of the year until the end of April, the online supermarkets with the lowest prices are Continente and Pingo Doce. Completing the podium are 360Hyper and Auchan.

"The Continent and Pingo Doce were the cheapest online supermarkets in the first four months of 2024. For this reason, DECO PROTeste awarded them with the seal 'The Cheapest'. 360Hyper and Auchan complete the podium of the most affordable online supermarkets. The analysis was carried out based on price indexes calculated between January 1st and April 30th," it can be read on the website of the consumer defense organization."site of the consumer defense organization.   

The analysis was carried out with the daily collection of "prices of a basket of more than two hundred products, in nine online supermarkets operating in mainland Portugal - Apolónia, Auchan, Continente, El Corte Inglés, Froiz, Intermarché, Minipreço, Pingo Doce and 360Hyper", according to DECO.

Analyze this that led the organization to the following conclusions: 

• "Following Continente and Pingo Doce (index 100), 360Hyper and Auchan were the supermarkets with the lowest price level online (index 102), 2% more expensive than the first ones. Continente and Pingo Doce maintained the position they had already achieved in the previous two four-month periods."
• "The El Corte Inglés (index 111) was the most expensive online supermarket, with prices 11% higher than Continente and Pingo Doce"  
• "In an intermediate position were Froiz and Minipreço, with indexes 105 and 106, respectively".
